Great Water
Conditions on Monday made it look promising for the coming week and indeed it did as Kinnaber started the week off with an 18lbs. Then wind picked up a bit and this always makes presenting your fly a little bit tricker, but always let your fly swing even on a bad cast because you never know and believe it or not fish do not read the books. A rise big of water on Friday evening made Saturday a bit of a wash out, so it was time to light the wood burners make a brew and have an egg banjo and tell a few fishy dits.
The Coming Week
“The famous monkey pattern (Dee Monkey or Petes Monkey) in tubes or coneheads tubes seem to be the way to go just now. Clearer settled water will help catches this week we all hope. Skagit lines or scandi bodies and tungsten tips to get down are essential. The skagit also helps with the windy conditions alllowing you to cast into the wind, albeit the presentaion isnt always the best! T10 and T14 tips. As ever listen to your ghillie for up to date advice on flies and tactics as it can change even within a day.”

“Last week we had great water conditions for the start of the week, sadly it just didn’t happen for the guests, albeit it was a tad windy! The water rose on Wednesday night and the lads on Friday faired better, landing two nice springers. Jason Walls landed a 12lb fish in the Gallery Pool and friend Nick Howe landed a lovely 7lb fish in the Stobbs. Both fish took black and yellow monkeys. Sadly Saturday was a wash out”
