Fishing

Is not easy at the moment, though those who put in the hours are getting into a few. Fish are showing on the rivers with a few large salmon making themselves known by jumping clear out of the water, why they do this who knows? and this was yesterday. There are a huge amount of juvenile fish showing taking flies off the surface and some very good brown trout as well which fingers crossed is a good sign for the future. Not as many sea trout caught this week as there where last, what I can say is that there is a good amount of sea trout in the South Esk all seen with the MK1 eyeball, I have never seen anything like it and could have stayed there all day watching them, is was quite a sight. So again the fish are there you just need patience and perseverance.

Neil’s Week Ahead.

With no significant since March is it pretty much the same as the prevoius weeks, small flies which ever you have confindence in  and try to use thinly dressed flies. Stealth is still key and flailing about like a mad thing will do you no favours, if you can keep your wading to a minimum. What we do have for you this week is the fly dressing that caught all those Sea trout at Stracathro, so tie some up and give them a swim this week.

Lastly I should say thank you to the ghillies and guests who send the photographs to me, with out them the report would not be complete and certainly not as colourful!!
