Blazing Sunshine..
Stracathro had a good week with 12 sea trout on caught by the Gary Chambers party. The report from the party is as follows:
Just finished a very challenging week at Stracathro. Low water, freezing evenings and few fish about.
In the circumstances twelve sea trout for the week, I think that was pretty good. I had 6 to 3:08lbs, Bill Findlay 4 to 4lbs and Gordon Smith and Paul Chambers one each. Flies that were used, Moc’s Cert, Dark Mackerel and Mallard Silver & Claret.
There was evidence of fresh salmon and more sea trout on Saturday. Just need the
temperatures to climb a little!!
Just a reminder that Pink salmon may start to make an appearance soon.

Please report any catches of Pink salmon to the Fishery Board.
Note: If any of the angling clubs or anyone else that has anything to report on the North or South Esk please get in touch via email with your catches and stories. The more we can show what is being caught on our rivers paints a good picture.
Thank you.
Week Ahead
First off, be aware of the low water and high-water temperatures. With the air temperatures rising this week so will the water, so fish with caution and preferably in the early morning and well into to the evening. I know that some beats have already asked anglers to fish only in the mornings and evenings, so if you are heading to either of the Esk’s it would be worth your while to telephone ahead and check. So light tackle and long leaders are what is needed and with this in mind small flies aswell. Old summer favourtites, Stoats Tail in various forms and sizes, Collie Dog, small hitched tubes flies or whichever is your preference. Also keep an
eye open for your shadow is casting it’s self-cross the water. One cannot emphasise enough how important stealth is when conditions are what they are at the moment. Enjoy the warm lazy evenings on the river sit back and watch the water and sock it all up…. Oh, and turn off the mobile.

Lastly I should say thank you to the ghillies and guests who send the photographs to me, with out them the report would not be complete and certainly not as colourful!!
