Tougher fishing.
“With the lower water levels this week in general things have been on the tough side fishing wise, saying that there are still fish running through in smaller numbers. The weather is set to change a bit this week with possibly snow and maybe some rain Tuesday onwards so that could change river things too! Currently small dressed flies in smaller sizes 10 and 12 can work on intermediate tips. Try Cascade and Allys on dressed patterns also believe it or not micro flies can work too, albeit I prefer slightly warmer water for them yet. If the water dose lift a bit this week I am positive the old tube paterns will come back into force, including gold bodied Willie Gunn and Monkey. It pays to have these in different tubes types, ie plastic, aluminium and brass and swap them depending on the pool you are fishing. Still a great chance for a springer so fish hard and as ever listen to your ghillie for adive as it can change on a daily basis!”
